German landing craft shipwreck

During the German attack, a landing craft took heavy fire and caught fire, next to the rocky islet of Stroggyli.

Some died on the spot, others drowned trapped in their heavy gear, while others managed to find refuge on the islet.

Hand grenades, weapons, pieces of soldiers’ personal gear, is what has remained, lying sadly in the sand.
