Lakki Italian Municipality Building

ITALIAN MUNICIPALITY OF LAKKI (MUNICIPIO DI PORTOLAGO)

This building complex was constructed during the 1933-35 period. The architect, the engineer and the contractor are unknown. The building housed:

• The Italian Municipality (on the first floor)
• The Tax Office
• The FASCIO (Fascism offices and the seat of the political Secretary)
• The youth club
• The common room of the Blackshirts
• Game rooms known as DOPO LAVORO
• The post office (POSTA) on the ground floor, and
• The Italian Pharmacy

The MILIZIA (Fascist Guard of Mussolini) settled in an extension of the building, in 1936.
